Forevertributes.nl wins EMERCE "Website of the Year 2025" - and why this award is technically special
Forevertributes.nl took home the EMERCE Website of the Year 2025 in the Events category. Here is why the technical execution behind it made this win genuinely meaningful.
Forevertributes.nl won the EMERCE Website of the Year 2025 in the Events category - and that hit differently. Not just because winning is great, but because the jury evaluates design, technology, usability, reliability, and performance. That is the full stack of what we care about.
What made this project technically interesting
The site had to look stunning and load fast despite carrying large videos and visual-heavy sections. That tension - between rich visuals and real-world performance - is where most builds compromise. This one did not.
A few things we built that made the difference:
Video optimization above the fold. Custom compression combined with smart loading techniques kept the hero experience intact without tanking Core Web Vitals.
A custom video carousel. Standard slider libraries were not a fit here. We built a carousel from scratch that handled video playback cleanly across devices.
Animation and loading polish. Every transition was treated as part of the product, not an afterthought. That attention to the in-between moments is what separates a site that looks good in screenshots from one that feels good to use.
Make.com automation. A custom Make.com integration syncs agenda items from the Forevertributes main site to every band website automatically - in both Dutch and English. No manual updates across sites, no risk of content falling out of sync.
Why it matters
Awards from industry peers - especially ones that weigh technical quality alongside design - are a good signal that the tradeoffs made during a project were the right ones. Speed without visual quality is not a win. Visual quality without speed is not either.
